“In this exciting new project we find a meeting of five diverse musical personalities – all highly individual and yet able to blend as one. Brought together by the songs of Pete Churchill, this group also includes the extraordinary Mark Lockheart, the beautiful voice of Mishka Adams, the exquisite guitar playing of Ben Barritt, and fantastic percussionist Adriano AdewaleThe songs are songs of loss and longing, of love, of hope and searching. This is about story telling – come, listen and be part of the journey.”

This is a project that is very close to my heart. I first encountered Pete’s songs during my Masters Degree at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, singing with his choir at the college. A few years later, on a schools project he was commissioned to write for by the Merton Music Foundation, I was asked to sing a solo on one of his songs. After one memorable rehearsal involving an impossibly large number of children and our choir, the London Vocal Project, he asked if I’d like to sing more of his songs and perhaps record them in the studio one day. The seeds for “Stories to Tell” were sown, and a couple of years later we found ourselves in Porcupine Studios London in the capable hands of Nick Taylor, recording this collection of Pete’s beautiful songs with a band of incredible musicians. I am overjoyed and proud to be a part of this project, and cannot express my gratefulness at getting to sing music of this beauty with musicians who play with so much heart.
